A Study on The Water Analysis of Wells at Public Welfare Enterprise around Taegu City


Abstract
Water-borne diseases are one of the most serious problems in Korea, because we have been encoun
tered with high incidence of water-borne diseases due to use of untreated drinking water.
This study was carried out to evaluate the physico-chemical and bacteriological state of 33 well
water at public welfare enterprise around Taegu city during a month from March, 1967 to April. Main findings are summarized as follows:
1. Turbidity, degree of color and odor were within normal range in all samples.
2. Reaction, consumption of KMnO4, total hardness and chlorine ion were also within normal range
in all samples but free ammonia detected was 6% and nitrogen nitrite was 45.5%.
3. Fluorine, arsenic, lead, copper and iron which known as chemically harmful ingredient were not detected from all samples.
4. About 15% of all samples was over the standard limit in standard plate court and about 27% was over the M.P.N. 1.95.
5. In comparison with analysis of nitrogen nitrite, standard plate count and M. P. N. that unqualified in all kind of test was 15. 1%, that in 2 kind was 24.2% and that in 1 kind was 51.5%.
